From catching the first flight for his next gig in a different city to hitting the booth for a recording session early in the morning, every day is like a new adventure for Baidurjya Banerjee. This 27-year-old solo artist who was born and raised in Kolkata is currently based in Hyderabad. He started playing music at the age of 10 when he began taking Indian Classical vocal lessons. He finished college in Chennai and is a part of the Chennai Music Circuit. Banerjee is a renowned recording artist for South Indian and Bengali cinema and has developed into a national performer as well. The artist is now the lead guitarist of bands like Since105, Attva and The MaaHaa Project. He is also one of the few guitarists from India to endorse major music brands such as Gibson Guitars, Epiphone Guitars, Kramer Guitars, MooerAudio, GigiGadgets, and IntuneGP to represent at the global level, adding feathers to his cap.
His guitar playing style is crafted from his various ‘guitar gods’ like Guthrie Govan, Mateu Asato, Allan Holdsworth etc. This artist, who started playing for various major projects from a young age, has performed in various cities across the country like Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Kolkata to name a few.
His latest single ‘Odyssey,’ is an amalgamation of different memories and moments in one’s voyage of finding solace. Released on the 16th of June, the song is primarily a guitar piece that goes through multiple genres like funk, RnB, Electronic, Neo-Soul, and everything in between. This kind of trajectory of the track which is divided into moods and grooves represents the emotions evoked across the journey.
The main riff of ‘Odyssey’ was recorded at Banerjee’s home studio and the production took place through the Purple and Gold Entertainment record label with Shashank Alamuru, the producer of the song. The final mixing and mastering were done at The Sound Dock Studios. The credits to the psychedelic artwork to the song goes to Neha Sharma, a Bangalore-based artist.
