Anusha Ramasubramoney and Pushkar Srivatsal first crossed paths in September of 2015 at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music near Pondichery. Soon after, they formed an alternative jazz/R&B duo, called Second Sight. Since then, they’ve produced a four-track debut EP and toured the country across cities such as Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, among others. The duo is currently working on first full-length album, slated for release in August 2021. They’re currently accompanied by Ralph Menezes on bass, Jigar Shah on the drums and Jayakrishnan Unnithan working the keys.

Their latest single, ‘Dim Lights’ was released on December 4, 2020. It’s a satirical piece that focuses on the false sense of satisfaction found in online and social media banter. Dim Lights talks about how we as a generation, behave online, with the fact that there are little to no consequences to our actions therein. The number has a laid-back beat, beautifully accompanied by melodious saxophone tunes and a solo as well. The track took about three months to record since it was produced remotely during the lockdown.

Second Sight plans to release two more singles from their upcoming album, which remains untitled as of yet. The album will include music that the duo has been writing and performing live over the past four years. The duo’s work is influenced by Hiatus Kaiyote and Jordan Rakei. They base their work on storytelling and building a coherent sonic narrative.
