This talented artist has recently unveiled the first track, “Bhapp,” from his debut album, “Ishq Mein,” promising a melodious and soul-stirring listening experience.
Alok Ranjan Srivastava, known for his collaboration with new age musicians, transitioned from a successful stint in the advertising industry to pursue his decade-old passion for songwriting and poetry. The decision to leave behind six years of corporate life was fueled by an inner calling to delve into the world of music and bring his creative expressions to life.
The debut album, “Ishq Mein,” signifies a personal and transformative journey for Alok, who not only showcases his lyrical prowess but steps into new roles as a Music Composer and Singer. The album comprises four songs, each a musical testament to his experiences in love. Contrary to initial intentions of keeping these songs private, Alok realized that art, once created, belongs to the universe and must be set free.
“The entire album consists of songs that I never sat down and wrote. These are songs that just started brewing inside me, because I was in love with someone,” Alok shares, providing a glimpse into the emotional reservoir from which the album springs. Among these heartfelt compositions, “Bhapp” stands out as a cute and unconventional track. Alok confesses to feeling nervous during its creation due to its unique poetry and structure, but the positive response from close friends boosted his confidence in his compositional skills.
The inspiration behind “Bhapp” is a girl from Alok’s past, whose habit of saying ‘Bhapp’ when teased or irritated became a charming aspect of their connection. The song, in essence, is a tribute to the legendary poet ‘Gulzar Saab,’ whose influence resonates strongly in Alok’s work.
Acknowledging the crucial role played by childhood friend and musician Siddharth Pandit, Alok emphasizes the transformative impact Pandit brought to the arrangement of the songs. Their collaboration has elevated the album to another level, infusing it with a unique sensibility.
This year has been monumental for Alok, with over 20 of his songs from different projects released. Looking ahead, 2023 holds another significant project – Amazon Prime’s Bandish Bandits 2.
