Bright, the instrumental rock and heavy metal guitarist, has released the first single from his upcoming double-album, “Skyquakes,” titled “The Dark Prince.” This new track marks a return to old-school heavy metal and 80s thrash influences, combined with a progressive electric guitar approach to composition.
Preetam.S.P, the mastermind behind Bright, plays guitar, bass guitar, drums, electronic, piano, and synth. “The Dark Prince” is the first track in the catalog to include a bit of his singing. This album, slated for release in 2023/2024, will be Bright’s third full-length album, following 2022’s “UDO.”
“The Dark Prince” is a heavy metal anthem of rebellion, reflecting Bright’s rage against society and the world we live in. The new album is full of guitar solos and heavy rhythm sections, perfect for raging to. Although Bright’s tracks are left up to the listener’s interpretation, the tracks on the new album are more straightforward in their titles than their predecessors. The general theme for “Skyquakes” is “absolute defiance.”
Preetam’s journey to becoming a musician began in his childhood, surrounded by music, including Michael Jackson, vintage movies, and Backstreet Boys. He attended Hindustani Tabla classes at age 10 but refused to take the junior exam after a few months of completing his training. He eventually joined piano classes, but before taking his first Trinity Grade exam, he quit.
In his late school-life, he was part of a five-member carol-singing group that performed carol songs every evening during the weeks around Christmas. He was 14 at the time, and this was his first taste of being in a band. Preetam developed an affinity for rebellious and high-tempo music during his pre-teens, citing rock n’ roll and heavy metal as forms of music that best reflected his life and what he felt towards the world.
By the time he was 18, he was doing heavy metal vocal and frontman duties for a local band, but after a few shows, he realized he would be able to better express himself through an electric guitar. He spent time teaching himself how to play his favorite heavy metal songs when he was 18. He is also one of the proud founding members and frontman of the black metal band ‘ANTI’ – the first and only black metal band to emerge from the city of Mysore, India.
“The Dark Prince” showcases Bright’s musical talent and passion for heavy metal, creating a powerful anthem of rebellion that will leave listeners wanting more. With “Skyquakes” on the horizon, fans can expect a return to old-school heavy metal, combined with a progressive electric guitar approach to composition.
