All interesting stories are a mystery and the clues are in the songs I write – Pinky Poonawala. Today we are in conversation with Pinky Poonawala, the lyricist who is making it big in Bollywood. As a child, her mother took her to Kathak dance classes at the delicate age of 3. It was then that she felt the knack for music and dance in her life. By the age of 9, she received the Shankaracharya award in Pune for dance.
Her debut track, Rehnuma for Indian Idol 5 got her GIMA and Radio Mirchi Award Nominations. It was a Sufi song created for Indian idol 5 winner which was then used as a promotional track for the Chronicles of Narnia Hollywood film. After which she has began writing songs for albums, films, jingles & has had her lyrics used for projects like MTV Roadies and Coke Studio.
Her latest track is called Mausam Hai Pyaar, which is now the title track of Modern Love on Amazon Prime, which she wrote. For this track, she collaborated with the talented singer and composer Nikhil D’souza. When we asked her about the track, she told us ” Lyrically It’s about self-love and If love is here to stay or will change with the change of seasons”.
In the past, Pinky has worked along with some of the biggest names in the Bollywood industry and has made quite a name for herself. Having to work with artists like Sunidhi Chauhan, Nikhil D’Souza, Arijit Singh, Neeti Mohan, Mohan Kannan, and Ash King has to be the highlight of her career.
