Born and raised in Singapore, this artist defines his story as ‘imagination.’ Though he’s a night owl, music for Siddrth aka Ramakrishna K starts when he starts his day, either through humming, listening, or practicing. As a kid who was always fascinated by the different sights, sounds, and textures that he experienced around him, Siddrth’s creative venture started with art and design. At the age of 16, he indulged himself in studying and practicing fine art and painting.
His journey with music, however, started as a mere hobby that allowed him to express himself through a different medium. “Eventually I got more absorbed into music production far more than art, evolving into songwriting and composition,” he said. R&B, Hip-Hop, Electronica, Future Pop, Psychedelic Pop, and Tamil Film Music include some of his influences as an artist. Daft Punk has also been a huge inspiration and stylish aspiration for him.
‘Paravaigal,’ his latest song explores a person’s relationship with memories. Released on the 9th of September, the song journeys through the conflicting memories that an individual experiences, and how the mind paints it in a different light. “Our memories are often shaded by our emotions and we don’t always speak the truth, especially in today’s digital age where memories are just a swipe away,” he added.
The Tamil Indie Pop song took about 5-6 studio sessions to take form. It was produced and recorded at the studio of the artist’s friend Daniel Wong, who also produced his first song ‘Piranthaen.’ “He doesn’t speak a word of Tamil but he knows how to catch a vibe,” he added. The artwork was made by a UK-based artist called C G Jenkins.
An artist who likes to stay hungry and foolish, he looks forward to collaborating with artists like Dhee, a Tamil Independent artist that he described as an artist with a “phenomenal voice and artistry.” We wish him good luck and can’t wait to see what he has in store next.
