Everyone is familiar with the Shakespearean quote “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” Well, that’s this band’s favorite quote. PaperParachute is a band based in Jamshedpur with two artists – Arjit Shaw and Anurag Singh. Describing their story as “madness,” the two artists met at a Halloween party in Shaw’s place. Here, they had what he describes as “the most metal jam” he’s ever had with Anurag thus marking the beginning of the band PaperParachute. Shaw, who is 22 years old, plays the guitar, keys, bass, drums, and morchang, along with writing and composing songs for the band. The 26-year-old Singh, however, works on the drums and vocals. Some of their influences include Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Rage Against The Machine, AC/Dc, Rolling Stones, and Deep Purple.
‘Kahani,’ their latest release is an indie rock song with a touch of the blues. Released on the 28th of July, the song portrays the journey of every passionate and wondering soul out there. It also acts as a reminder for its listeners to enjoy the journey rather than worrying about how long it will take to reach the destination. With Anurag Singh on the vocals and drums and Arjit Shaw on the guitar, the song took about 6 months to produce. Written and composed by Shaw, ‘Kahani’ was mixed and mastered by Zypher while the music video was made by Dhruv Agarwal. Recorded in PaperParachute’s home studio, it was released under UrbanChalla Music, (UCM) an independent multigenerational music collective and label for artists.
The band’s dream collaborations include Vishal Dadlani and Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine and Savaal hopes they make it possible.
