Vinayak | Artist Spotlight

Stuck in a language limbo of English and Hindi, Music became Vinayak’s language, the one that allowed him to communicate much more effectively than with with words alone. Houston, TX based Vinayak who is a Music Composer and a Producer. Born in Kolkata but traveled half way around the world and has branched out into collaborating with several artists for his latest “EP Iraada”. Vinayak is a versatile Music Producer who doesn’t confine himself to a specific genre, trying out all kinds of sounds and instruments in his compositions.

“This past year has been insane to say the least. Though I’ve gained more than I ever thought was possible musically, I’ve lost far more personally. The balance of life works in funny ways” says Vinayak after looking back at the year and his journey through the making of the EP.

Vinayak released the EP “Iraada” track by track weekly starting May 29, 2020 but took a span of 6 months to produce. The EP is extremely close to Vinayak’s heart because he was fortunate enough to work with some of his idols and singers that he’s listened to forever such as Shashaa Tirupati, Hriday Gattani, and Tushar Joshi.

When we asked Vinayak about the album, he said “I’ve been thinking of choices a lot lately. Choices echo down from the past and color generations into the future. Iraada is the prequel to Udaan and tells the story of my childhood. Despite the conditions and scenarios that we may be born into, we must learn from the past and create a better kinder future” and we agree with Vinayak and are glad to see that his kinder future created an art piece like “Iraada”.

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life — think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success “. – Swami Vivekananda is the quote that inspires Vinayak everyday. And given the chance he would love to collaborate with Jeremy Zucker and Flume one day.

Features in the EP : Iraada features Hriday Gattani, a popular Indian playback singer who has worked with the likes of AR Rahman and Vishal-Shekhar. Tu mujh mein features popular playback singer Tushar Joshi who has sung for films such as Jagga Jasoos, Jab Harry Met Sejal, Kalank, and Chhichhore. Umeed feature vocals by national award winner Shashaa Tirupati who has collaborated with AR Rahman, Tanishk Bagchi, and Pritam. And Savera featured Aswen Sri & Akhila Mamandur.
